HULL NAVAL ARCHITECT ENGINEERING SERVICE
MISSIONS
Under the responsibility of the Hull Naval Architect Leader, the Hull Naval Architect Engineer shall:
• Assist the Hull Naval Architect Leader to ensure compliance with TOTAL and TOTAL E&P Angola Safety
objectives throughout the life of the project, and ensure that all safety related programs are fully implemented.
• Ensure that the work, from engineering to construction, will be executed in full compliance with the COMPANY
General Specification and the CLOV specifications / requirements, with the objective to reduce the cost without
impacting the level of quality and safety within the defined schedule.
• Ensure that the Contractor and the COMPANY QA/QC plan are fully implemented.
• Liaise with his contractor counterpart on a regular basis.
• Identify areas of concern which require corrective action by Contractor and closely monitor the implementation
of such correctives actions.
• Interface with Classification Society and Flag on all engineering matters when required.
• Keep a permanent contact with the contractors on technical matters.
• Keep inform his management on a regular basis.
• Liaise with vendors.
• Review and comment the Hull design and construction procedures.
ACTIVITIES

Take good knowledge of the Project specifications and collect all necessary information (feedback from
other projects like Girassol, Dalia, Akpo, Pazflor, Usan, Classification Society requirements, contacts
with Vendors).
Take good knowledge of the updated applicable rules and regulations; identify potential deviations with
company specifications.
Alert on deviation from COMPANY General Specifications and prepare the technical side of derogation
file when relevant.
Review and comment the hydrodynamic and mooring calculation notes produced by the Contractor.
Review and comment the stability (hull loading manual, hull girder loads assessment, intact and damage
stability) and weight calculation notes produced by the Contractor.
Review and comment the hull structural and appurtenances calculation notes produced by the
Contractor.
Review and comment the hull layout drawings.
Review and comment the hull specification for the sections relevant to Naval Architecture, mooring and
structure.
Review the Met-ocean and Geotechnical data. Interface between Company and Contractor specialists.
Perform side calculations to ascertain contractor results.
Report to his management on a regular basis and attend to meetings with the contractor.
Interface with the mooring engineer for proper integration of mooring equipment in the hull.
Follow up design and construction of the mooring system and equipments, interfacing with the mooring
engineer.
Interface with the topside weight controller.
Preparation of hull weight or loading / stability interface data.
Support and enforce the HSEQ project objectives and directives by continuous implementation of the
project HSEQ management system.

OBSERVATIONS ON ACTIVITIES AND MISSIONS
During detailed engineering, ensure that documents are delivered in time.
Liaise with corporate specialists for the resolution of technical queries/qualifications.

SERVICE DIMENSION
The Naval Architect Engineer will be working within a integrated team of 5 to 10 persons at peak for the engineering,
procurement and fabrication of a FPSO Hull sized for 1.8 Mbbl of oil, (about 300 meters long). The overall assignment
is estimated at 24 months.

Qualifications requises :

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND BACKGROUND
Engineering degree: Confirmed Engineer (Naval Architect, marine engineer or structural engineer) with experience in
engineering of similar FPSO’s project. Professional Experience: over 5 years experience with at least one experience
on a TOTAL similar FPSO’s projects. Good mastering of English.
OTHER OBSERVATIONS ON THE SPECIFICITIES OF THE SERVICE AND ITS ENVIRONMENT
During Hull detailed engineering (~12 months), the Naval Architect Engineer is based in South East Asia, in the Hull
construction yard. After that, during the hull construction phase, the Naval Architect Engineer is mainly expected to
follow (worldwide) the construction of mooring systems and equipments, under the responsibility of the mooring
engineer. Family / full time status
The working environment is international and multicultural and demands considerable experience in the project
process working with international Contractors.
